| 15.07.05 - Weekly bulletin
by Trevor Stanning The 2005 Victorian Interclub (Eastern Zone) got
underway on Friday 15 July with a few changes from last year. Gone was D Division, necessitating promotion of some very low rated new
juniors to C Division. Gone (sadly) was the team from Melbourne Chess
Club. But not gone was the first night confusion as players searched for
their teams and board locations. A Division has 7 teams entered, B has 7, and C has 8, and this is down
marginally from last year. Round 1 results that caught my eye were:
- Mike Woodhams win as black over David Hacche; Mike seems to 'come out
of retirement' mainly for the Interclub.
- Newcomer to our shores, Dirk Vielsaeker, had a good draw against
Marcel Rothlisberger
- Oliver Lemmel's great win over Paul Sanderson, and
- Susan Sheng's improvement to beat Farn-Ling Khung.
There were no disputes in round 1 even though quite a few last minute
re-arrangements were necessary, thanks to all concerned.Round 2 is eagerly awaited by those teams who had a bye in round 1, and
also by those teams who got off to a good start in round 1. |
