2009 Canterbury Open

Tournament details: A 7 round Swiss on 7 Fridays from September 11 to October 30 with a free night on September 25.
Playing dates:

Round 3   2/10
Round 4   9/10
Round 5   16/10
Round 6   23/10
Round 7   30/10
Note: September 25 is a free night.
Due to a clash with the MCC Cup week-ender, players may negotiate with the tournament organiser to play the final round game between 25/10 and 6/11 inclusive if they have a clash with the first round of the Melbourne Chess Club CUP week-ender.
Starting time: 7.45 pm sharp on all playing nights.
Ratings: ACF Rated
Entry fees: Early bird: $35 (must be paid by Tuesday, September 8th)
Full fee: $45
Free entry for Grand Masters and International Masters who enter on or before September 12
$10 discount for BHCC / CJCC members
Prize fund:
Total Prize fund $1200
1st: $400
2nd: $250
3rd $150
5 rating prizes: $80 each
Prizes will be shared equally between players on equal scores.
Title The title of Canterbury Open Champion will be awarded to the highest finishing Player in A division. In case of a tie it will be awarded on count back
Rate of play: 75 minutes/player + 30 seconds/move from move one.

Laws of chess: All F.I.D.E. laws of chess, tournament rules, and Swiss draw rules apply.
Game recording: Players are required to record their games and hand in a copy of the completed game duly signed with the result entered, at the end of play.
Duplicate score sheets are supplied.
Late arrivals: The arbiter will do his best to avoid forfeit wins due to the unannounced absence of players.
Competitors not present at the venue one hour after the advertised starting time will forfeit.
Forfeits: Players who forfeit twice or have been taken out of the draw twice may be withdrawn from the tournament.
Postponements: Postponements should be avoided as much as possible. If unavoidable BHCC guidelines for postponements should be followed.
Player conduct: Players are requested to familiarise themselves with the BHCC code of conduct and abide by that advise whenever possible.
