will normally give you a very interesting game especially if one likes attacking.
"Pawn storm" is the most common way one can approach this position. I chose
this game because I thought it a perfect example of the above method. The
idea of this method is to move pawns in order to weaken the King's position
followed by mate with pieces. So I hope you now understand white's next move.
13.g4! e5 14.Be3 Bc6 15.Rhg1 Qc7 16.g5 Nh5 A very good try to block
white's h pawn by John. 17.g6!! Fast, sharp and exactly right! All
of a sudden black's king is about to be exposed. 17...Be8 18.f4! exf4
[18...Nxf4 is a little bit better and still good for white] 19.Qxh5
h6 20.gxf7+ Bxf7 21.Rxg7+!! Just brilliant! Once you follow the right
strategy, a combination will come. There is no way black can escape checkmate.
21...Kxg7 22.Rg1+ [22.Bd4+ first is better. The line played does allow
a defence at move 23.] 22...Bg5 A good try again! White has virtually
the only move to win the game. 23.Rxg5+!! hxg5? [23...Kh7 is the only
viable defence. White stands better but still has to win the game. It could
continue 24.Bxf7 Qxf7 25.Bd4 Qxh5 26.Rxh5] 24.Bd4+ Kg8 25.Qh8# 1-0
