26.04.05 So the field has settled.
At the half way mark with 4 rounds to go the top players are locked
together on  3.5 points with early favourite Chris Wallis lagging slightly.
in the next group on 3 points. A very even tournament indeed. The venue
is proving very comfortable for the modest field of 36 only slightly higher
than last year when 33 turned op.
Unfortunately for the last 2 round we have a venue shift to the Box Hill Town Hall that to be seen to be believed but beautifully kept
Neo classic / art deco edifice at the end of the shopping centre in
Whitehorse Road
Gerrit Hartland
22.04.05. Sam Chow unlikely to play.
Sam has been selected to represent Australia in the 2005 International
Maths Olympiad in Mexico in July 2005. He will be very busy with the training for this event. Congratulations Sam
22.04.05. Entries received
One day before the start of the Under 18 Under 16 and Under 14
tournament there are 34 entries. Only one more than last year. We had
hoped to increase the popularity of the event by a change of dates and separation of the under 12 tournament from last year but it seems not to be the case. No entries so far from girls Champion Casey Hickman under 16 girls championship Elena Galiabovich or Under 14 Girls champion just at a time
when I thought we were getting more girls to play
Vanja Rozenblat.
26.02.05 Entries are starting to flow
Eugene Schön Victorian Under 10 Champion is the first cab of the rank.
Eugene has entered for both tournaments but has been made aware that
if he were to win the under 14 title, he can still participate

By organising the Under 18 and under 12 tournaments into separate
weekends  playing conditions for both tournaments will be much improved

Last year's under 18 champion Denis Bourmistrov is no longer
eligible

There have been some small but important changes to the organization of these most important tournaments.

bulletThe under 12, and under 10 tournament will now be held on a separate weekend after the under 18, under 16, and under14 tournament. This will allow the top under 12s to participate in both events.
bulletBoth tournaments are set earlier in the year clashing less with end of term exams.
bulletPlay off matches for titles have been abandoned. Prize money between equal finishers will be shared but titles will be decided on count-back.
bulletThe playing times in the under 12, and under 10 tournament has been extended to allow the tournament to be rated in the classic ratings system
to event page
